Obama's remarks in a brief address to reporters capped a tense daylong drama, in which federal authorities grounded UPS planes at airports in Newark, N.J., and Philadelphia to inspect packages based on fears of a terrorist threat originating from Yemen. The Yemen-based Al Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula is suspected, and U.S. officials told the Associated Press that the chemical used, PETN, was also used in the failed Christmas Day airline bombing that was tied to the same group. President Obama, confirming that authorities had uncovered a "credible terrorist threat," spoke shortly after military jets escorted a passenger jet from the United Arab Emirates to New York's JFK airport as a precautionary measure because it was carrying a package from Yemen. This flight however was cleared later and continued on its way. FedEx reported finding fishy material in its possession as did UPS, who found ink cartridges with white powder and wires coming out. After FedEx and UPS found this material they set up an embargo on all shipments coming from Yemen as an additional safety measure. For the better half of today, many ups trucks in the New England area were searched because of packages originated from Yemen and other suspicious countries. Some ups planes where downed and escorted for private investigations but no bombs or bomb making materials have surfaced through this.
The package found in the United Kingdom, contained a "manipulated" toner cartridge and had white powder on it as well as wires and a circuit board, a law enforcement source said.
"The size and shape of the printed circuit board are typical to a handset cell-phone-type device," said Olivier Clerc, the head of application engineering for a wireless phone parts manufacturer, who provided an analysis of the circuit board shown in a photograph obtained by CNN.
Mean while the one discovered in Dubai Appears to have a highly sophisticated setup inside a printer with the same concept as the UK bomb.
Great fully these bombs were not able to perform their job thanks to Saudi Arabia’s tip, which was shown by the Obama administration.
